Hemp rope is the traditional material of Japanese Rope Bondage. It's the first thing a kinbakushi (bondage master) reaches for when binding someone. And for good reason. Finished hemp has the perfect balance of textures - both rough and soft - a sensual treat that dovetails ideally into the form, function, and underlying philosophies of bondage. The pleasant, grassy aroma is a delight to inhale. Hemp rope doesn't stretch like braided nylon or polypropylene. And it holds a knot remarkably well. If you like to tie, or be tied, quickly - hemp also has a lower tendency to produce "rope burn" than synthetics.
Our treated, finished rope will arrive at your door ready to use. Made by Japanese artisans, the rope is worked through the painstaking process of preparing it for bondage use. First, the hemp is boiled and carefully dried. Then the tough rope is broken, and stray strands are singed. Finally, Bayu oil is worked into the fibers. The rope then travels to the US, where Japan Rope adds its exclusive touch, weaving the ends with three or four wall knots to give each length of rope that last, extra mark of distinction. All of our rope is available in the traditional natural tan color, deep black, or a vibrant red.
